Production tips
How to use free Vital presets in DnB
A good preset is a starting point. Three habits that help free neuro Vital presets sit in your track:
Make the preset yours
Use a preset as a starting point, not the finished sound. Change the filter, distortion or envelope, then resample it to audio and process it further so your bass sounds like you.
Play the bass in your track’s key
Write the bassline in the same key as your track. Out-of-tune low end is a common reason mixes sound muddy.
Keep the sub clean and mono
Keep low bass mono and give the kick space, for example with sidechain or volume ducking. In drum & bass, a clear kick and sub matter more than extra layers.
